Can my teacher make me dissect an animal?
i am not a vegetarian. i am not a vegan. and i am not a member of PETA. i however am a huge animal lover. i see a squirrel dead on the rode, i cry. i get upset when i see little turtles trying to cross the road. I. LOVE. ANIMALS. period. i'm taking biology this semester (i'm a sophomore in high school and i have to have the class to graduate) and we have to dissect a worm, a frog, and a squirrel. I REFUSE TO DO SO. i will not take part in an activity that has caused harm to an animal. i am very aware that the animals will already be dead, but if the animals are dead, someone harmed them, because someone killed them. killing is harming. i believe that animals don’t have to be harmed in order for me to learn biology. although i am a child, i believe that the lives of these animals should be respected. dissection takes this respect away. it also takes away my right to respect animals lives. my question is: can my teacher make me dissect these animals?
