External DVD drive question?

My Acer laptop recently broke down and after a fun evening of dissecting it, i carefully removed the DVD drive. I want to replace it with a notebook that won't have a DVD drive. Can I just buy a cable to hookup my old DVD drive to it and what kind of cable would it be (amazon link?)? I don't really want to buy a new one if all I need is a cable.
