I want a rodent. I am a 13 year old girl, very responsible, I have had a couple fish....?

I had a Syrian hamster when I was 9, and he was the sweetest little thing. He would love to be held and would run around my room and liked to sit in my hands and sleep. I hear males are better, and I have proof. I got a female after he ded at about 2 years old, and she bit a lot.. My male only bit once and it was because I was holding a seed. You will get better answers in the rodent category, but that is my input.
