Ferret or Guinea Pig?

I am considering getting a new pet, and was thinking of getting a ferret or a guinea pig. Are either of these good pets? Or does anyone have other suggestions? Nothing like a dog or cat, preferably a rodent or (maybe) a bird. Thanks!
