Parents getting their children a dog to teach responsibility-good or bad?

To teach a child responsibility you should let them be responsible for themselves. They should have to get up on time, remember to brush their teeth, hair, shower, get dressed, so on. I think the best way to teach a child to be responsibles to make them do everything for themselves at least what they can do. If they can take care of themselves then they can start off by having a small pet like a fish then move up. But just giving them a dog to teach them responsibility is a bad idea in my book.
