Is dissecting an ascaris without gloves safe?

Our teacher made us dissect a male and female ascaris (roundworm) without gloves and I was wondering if it were possible to get infected with the parasite. They were both preserved, although I don't know how long for, and we washed our hands with both antibacterial soap and germ-x.
