What Kind of Pet Do you Think is right for me?

I want a new pet. A rodent type pet. Something rat like because they are cool. I am thinking about getting rats but they don't live very long, so I'm not sure... I'm looking for a social smart pet who is loving and really fun. And I am going to do research on the animals. I'm looking for something maybe like a ferret or hedgehog. I'm just not sure. Please let me know! :D And no I don't want a bunny. Lol Thanks!
